Notes for PHILLIP BURL GREEN:
The Greenfield Argus
Four children in the home of Phillip Green were stricken with diphtheria last week, which caused much uneasiness among our people. Some of these children had been attending school days previous, and it was feared that the infection might spread, so the board of education dismissed two of the lower
rooms on Friday last and disinfected them, but as so many of the pupils were kept at home it was thought best to close all the rooms except the high school for a week, which was done by an order of the board Monday night. Edith, the
eight-year-old daughter of Mr. Green, died on Monday from the effects of the contagion, but the other children are making satisfactory progress towards recovery, and as no cases have developed it is hoped the contagion will not give any further trouble.
He married Norah Ann Scoggins Green, daughter of William Frances Marion
Scoggins and Sarah Frances McCants Harrison Scoggins, 1899. Born, 13 Mar 1877, in Greenfield, Greene Co IL. Died, 14 Dec 1917, in Greenfield, Greene Co IL (Death Cer Reg #B-3 p.475 Greene Co Il). Burial: 15 Dec 1917, in Oak Wood Cem, Greenfield IL.
